Three qualified judges will judge all entries for adjudication. Regional routines with "High Silver" or above will be eligible to compete at one of our national competitions. Each entry will receive placement pins for each participant in duos, trios and groups and a plaque for the studio.

Unmasked Elite: 300-291
High Gold:
Gold: 269-260
High Silver: 259-250
Bronze: 239 & Below
Adjudicated routines have the opportunity to place in overalls. There must be at least three routines in each division/category to be eligible. The amount of routines in each category determines the amount of placements that will be given.
Title will be awarded in the Purple (elite) Division for each age division provided there are at least 5 contestants. To be considered for title, contestants must enter 2 solos in 2 different disciplines of dance. The dancer with the highest combined score will be awarded title for that age division. Both solos must score a platinum or higher. In the event of a tie, judges will make the final decision.
At every regional, we have an improv contest that will be judged. Music and categories are selected at random. This Improv contest is open to all dancers. There is a $5.00 donation to enter and all proceeds benefit Dancers Against Cancer non profit. Dancers can sign up and register in the lobby. Registration will open one hour prior to the contest. During the improv contest you will be allowed to take your own personal photo/videos.
The judges will select certain routines they feel were the most entertaining to come back and compete in our “Encore Performances”. All levels automatically qualify. Only Small Groups, Large Groups and Lines are eligible. This award will be given to the routine with the highest entertainment quality.
$30.00 Entry fee per photo/person.
Photos can be submitted at the merchandise booth. All entries must be submitted by the mid-day award session of their age division competition and will be announced during the final day award session. For example: If the Petite and Junior competition takes place on Saturday, entries will no longer be accepted after the mid-day awards and their score will be announced at the last group award session that day. All entries will be judged on a point system of 100 points. Each entry will receive either: Platinum, High Gold, Gold, High Silver, Silver, or Bronze. An Overall Photogenic award will be given in each of the 4 age divisions provided there are a minimum of 5 entries. Depending on the amount of entries, Petite and Junior contestants may be combined for an overall as well as Teen and Senior contestants. Entrants must submit a color photograph no larger than 8"x10" with the contestant name, studio name/code and age on the back. All photos must be picked up at the audio table following the awards session. Masquerade is not responsible for any unclaimed photographs. Any unclaimed photos will be turned over to studio owners at the end of competition. Please do NOT mail photos or photogenic entry fees.
Masquerade is proud to support the Industry Dance Awards (IDA). IDA is a benefit show that raises awareness and funds for Dancers Against Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those from our national dance community that have been affected by cancer. At every regional event, we select outstanding performances in various categories to represent the nominations from that city. Once our regional tour is complete and all nominations from each city have been chosen, one routine will be selected to represent Masquerade in each category at the Industry Dance Awards. Studio owners with routines selected as final nominees will win a trip to the awards show in Hollywood, California. For more information visit
Our Parade of Stars are awarded to outstanding dancers chosen throughout each regional competition. These dancers are eligible to participate in our opening number at one of our national finals, they are featured in a special section on our website, and in partnership with our friends at Kids Artistic Revue, these dancers are also eligible to attend the All-Star Dancers Convention in New York City over the summer.
At each regional event we present the Spirit Award to the studio that not only shows enthusiasm and support for others, but who demonstrates exceptional sportsmanship throughout the competition. Dancers are encouraged to show their spirit in a variety of ways. Making signs to support your studio, wearing masks or other Mardi Gras themed accessories at awards, and being kind to others are all excellent ways to show your Masquerade spirit!
At each regional competition the judges select an outstanding dancer to receive the Steven Boyd Award. This honor is presented to the dancer who not only demonstrates an exceptional level of confidence, but who also shows an undeniable passion for dance through their performance quality. Mr. Steven was a talented dancer, instructor, choreographer, adjudicator and mentor for many. Mr. Steven’s legacy is one we choose to celebrate at each Masquerade event, as we recognize dancers we believe Mr. Steven would have enjoyed interacting with. His true passion for dance and his ability to inspire young artists continue to serve as a benchmark for all of us at Masquerade and we are proud to honor his spirit as we see it reflected in each generation of dancers.
