Adjudicated routines will have the opportunity to place in Overalls. There must be at least three routines in each division or category in order to be eligible for Overall awards. The amount of routines in each category will determine the amount of Overall placement awards given out.
The Masquerade Title will be awarded in the Purple (Elite) level for each age division, provided there are at least 5 contestants entered. To be eligible for the Masquerade Title, contestants must enter two solos in two different styles of dance. The dancer with the highest combined score will be awarded the Masquerade Title for that age division. Both solos must receive a platinum score or higher in order to qualify. In the event of a tie between two or more dancers, the judges will make the final decision.
At every regional event we present an improv contest available to all dancers. This season dancers will have the opportunity to give back by entering our Dancers Against Cancer Improv Contest at each regional event! This contest will be judged and music will be selected at random. There is a $5 donation to enter, and all the funds are directed to Dancers Against Cancer (DAC). We are looking forward to raising funds for those in need, while encouraging the dancers to show off their artistry, and passion for dance! Dancers can sign up and register in the lobby. Registration will open one hour prior to the contest. During the improv contest you will be allowed to take your own personal photos and videos.
At each event the judges will select certain group routines they feel were among the most entertaining to represent their studio as Encore Finalists. These routines will be invited to return and compete once again in our Encore presentation at the end of the scheduled group competition day. All levels automatically qualify. Only Small Groups, Large Groups and Lines are eligible for Encore. The winner will be determined by the panel of judges based on entertainment value and overall impact.
$30.00 Entry fee per photo/person.
Photos can only submitted online (check your city page). All entries will be judged on a point system of 100 points. Each entry will receive either: Platinum, High Gold, Gold, High Silver, Silver, or Bronze. An Overall Photogenic award will be given in each of the 4 age divisions provided there are a minimum of 5 entries. Depending on the amount of entries, contestants may be combined all together (in all ages) for overalls. Please do NOT mail photos or photogenic entry fees. Be sure to format your photo so your face is the focal point of the picture. Deadline for all entries is the Wednesday prior to each event.
Masquerade is proud to support the Industry Dance Awards (IDA). IDA is a benefit show that raises awareness and funds for Dancers Against Cancer (DAC), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those from our national dance community that have been affected by cancer. At every regional event, we select outstanding performances in various categories to represent the nominations from that city. Once our regional tour is complete and all nominations from each city have been chosen, one routine will be selected to represent Masquerade in each category at the Industry Dance Awards. Studio owners with routines selected as final nominees will win a trip to the awards show in Hollywood, California. For more information visit www.industrydanceawards.com
At each regional event the Masquerade staff selects outstanding dancers to join our Parade of Stars. These dancers are recognized on stage, featured on our website, and are invited to perform in the opening number at one of our 2023 Nationals events. This extravagant performance opportunity, produced by Two4One Productions combines the talents of top tier dancers from all over the country and offers young artists a realistic, professional dance experience. In partnership with our friends at Kids Artistic Revue, these dancers are also eligible to attend the All-Star Dancers Convention in New York City over the summer.
At each regional competition the judges select an outstanding dancer to receive the Steven Boyd Memorial Award. This honor is presented to the dancer who not only demonstrates an exceptional level of confidence, but who also shows an undeniable passion for dance through their performance quality. Mr. Steven was a talented dancer, instructor, choreographer, adjudicator and mentor for many. His legacy is one we choose to celebrate at each Masquerade event, as we recognize dancers we believe Mr. Steven would have enjoyed interacting with. His true passion for dance and his ability to inspire young artists continue to serve as a benchmark for all of us at Masquerade and we are proud to honor his spirit as we see it reflected in each generation of dancers.
